CHAD & JEREMY BIOGRAPHY

The combination of Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde has produced the new, fresh and exciting sound that has skyrocketed them to the top of the best-seller charts throughout the world. The boys, who hail from England, have followed hit after hit with such releases as “Yesterday’s Gone,” “Summer Song,” “Willow Weep For Me” and, more recently, “If I Loved You.” Added to a wonderful vocal talent are magnetic personalities, sparkling wit and strong intellectual values.

Chad Stuart was born December 10, in Windemere, England. He is 5’ 11” and 165 pounds of charming Englishman. His elementary education was obtained at Durham Cathedral School where, at nine, he rearned to read and write music after which he attended the Sorbonne in Paris, and then art school in England. With the completion of his formal education, Chad enrolled at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where he met Jeremy. He also met his wife Jill there as well.

After leaving drama school, Chad worked as a salesman in a department store, a clerk in a record shop and finally a junior arranger with a music-publishing firm. While with the publishers, he wrote “Yesterday’s Gone,” but no one wanted to record it. It wasn’t until he met Jeremy again, and they started singing in a coffeehouse, that they were heard by a recording executive. He liked their style and had them record Chad’s song.

For relaxation, Chad finds painting and sculpturing to his liking. He owns a canoe which his wife and he use whenever possible. Another pastime that gives Chad pleasure is walking in the rain with his wife and his dog, Mr. McGregor. Chad is a musician in the true sense of the word. He plays piano, organ, guitar, lute, mandolin, harmonica, violin, trumpet and the flute. Sailing, tennis and ice skating take care of his outside activities.

Jeremy Clyde was born on March 22 in Buckinghamshire, England. Jeremy is a six-footer weighing 140 pounds. According to Jeremy, his eyes are blue and beautiful -- according to all who know him, he is polished, talented and has a sharp sense of humor.

Jeremy recieved his elementary education at Ludgrove Preparatory School and Eton. He continued at University of Grenoble in France. After graduating from Grenoble he too enrolled at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Upon leaving Central, Jeremy went to work as an actor. He appeared in such productions as “Hamlet,” “the Miser,” “A Man for All Seasons,” and “Roots” in the Regents Park and Dundee Theatres.

Jeremy dislikes getting up early in the morning, but he very much likes girls and clothing and girls, and girls, and girls, and an occasional motion picture -- if there are girls in it. He is an avid reader, preferring the works of Ray Bradbury and William Shakespeare. He also likes riding, tennis and swimming.

Chad and Jeremy enjoy singing and doubly enjoy singing together, but they both feel strongly about developing their talents in other directions, so don’t be surprised if they crop up in many other roles in show business.

A few comments from your author - This publicity release would later be used over and over again in various forms on C&Js LP liner notes as well as on other things. The text below, taken from both the "Before And After" and the “I Don’t Wanna Lose You Baby” single sleeves, is an example of this.

COLUMBIA RECORDS PROUDLY PRESENTS THE WORLD RENOWNED ENGLISH DUO CHAD AND JEREMY

Jeremy Clyde was born in Buckinghamshire, England. After graduating from the University of Grenoble in France, he studied speech and drama. During his acting career Jeremy appeared in such productions as “Hamlet,” “The Miser,” “A Man for All Seasons” and “Roots.”

Chad and Jeremy enjoy their work and doubly enjoy working together. They both feel very strongly about their careers and are not afraid to add those extra hours of rehearsal. This, however, is apparent from the moment they begin to play.

A few comments from your author - That, lads and lasses, is known as "deja vu". Actually, seeing the original press release and these 45 sleeves, one can clearly see why Columbia so quickly withdrew the “Before and After” LP, and replaced its notes with Chad’s comments. Who wants to read the same thing that many times over? Aside from us, obviously.
