Sheryl Crow’s Unreleased Tracks

Incuded on this page are (most of) the tracks that Sheryl recorded (or was recorded playing) but have never been commercially released. Because A&M did technically press (well, dub!) a version of the so-called “Unreleased Album” in 1992, I have excluded it from this list. However, you can find a track listing for it on my page which deals with the bootleg releases of the album.

The Real Life

This track, an outtake from the 1992 sessions, has appeared on certain (quite difficult to find) CDRs of Sheryl’s first LP. Unfortunately, the track is not in perfect quality, as it has a bit of tape hiss and some high end distortion. It comes from a publisher's demo.

Destiny

A second 1992 LP outtake appeared shortly after the first, initially in tape trading circles, but a poor quality copy has made it to some CDR pressings of the 1992 LP.

Ways Of Love

Another 1992 LP outtake, available in poor quality on some CDRs of the 1992 LP.

Stolen Moments

Another 1992 outtake, circulating on tape and some CDR copies of the 1992 LP. Again, in very rough quality.

Father, Son

This track is from the "Unreleased Album", but here I make reference to Sheryl’s live performance of this track, in Nashville in December of 1993. It is available on several boots, notably Kiss The Stone’s “Eating Crow”, the Italian “Wednesday Night State Theater”, and the German “Las Vegas” CD. The last two of these CDs feature the entire concert, while the first is a compilation disc.

Happy

This Rolling Stones cover is on the same CDs as the live version of “Father, Son”, as well as, from a different source, on many copies of the “Unreleased Album” on CDR.

Cold Turkey

This John Lennon cover can be found on most every CD that features her October 1994 concert at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London. It was recorded for, but not broadcast in, a Westwood One In Concert special.

Rodeo

This track, sometimes called “Angel” is available in live performances from many different venues. The best CD is “Tuesday Night Live” on the Chrome Hearts label, originating from an October 1994 concert in San Fransisco. A Milwakee version of this, (and “I Feel Happy”) is on the “Eating Crow” CD, in a not too great audience recording. Another (very poor audience) recording of this is on the “D’yer Mak’er Open Your Heart” disc.

I Feel Happy

This track, like the above one, was played in her October concerts in 1994, and can be found on all of those discs. It stuck around in her setlist longer than “Rodeo”, and thus we have an audience recording from Japan in May of 1995, when she used the song as an encore. this is on the “I Feel Happy” double CD, and a clone disc, “Monday, Monday”. Another, unnamed source, is on the “All I Wanna Do” boot, but is another audience recording.

Live With Me

Sheryl performed this track together with the Rolling Stones in a November concert in Miami, Florida. It is on “Unwired”, and “Eating Crow”, as well as “Even Angels Rock”.

Get Off My Cloud

Yet another Stones cover, this one done when Sheryl appeared at a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Tribute Concert. It is on a CDR called “The Bootleg Series Volume IV: The (Live) B-Sides & Rare Tracks”.

Sway

Sheryl really likes the Stones! Here’s another Stones cover, this time broadcast on Westwood One’s In Concert in 1995. Apparently, this is not on any wide circluation bootleg CDs.

Coffee Shop

From the Japanese part of her Far East tour of the Spring of 1995, it is on “I Feel Happy” and “Monday Monday”, two identical double discs, featuring an audience recording.

The Weight

This track is a cover of a song by The Band. It features both Sheryl and The Wallflowers, and is from a Georgia concert in 1997. It was broadcast on the “Live From The Pit” radio show, and has been booted onto a disc called “Angels Aliens and Elvis”.

Love Is A Good Thing/For What It's Worth

Sheryl sometimes played an arrangement of her track and the Buffalo Springfield classic during her spring 1997 gigs. Unfortunately, no versions are yet on wide distribution bootlegs.

Money

Used as an encore in the spring of 1997, and, again, not on any wide distribution bootlegs.

Ode To Billy Joe

Sheryl played this track on her “VH1 Storytellers” TV special. It is on a myriad of (so far) mostly CDR bootlegs.

Heart Of Gold

A cover of this classic track was recorded by Sheryl in a 1998 appearance on the BBC, it is an acoustic version, and is on a CDR called “The Bootleg Series Volume IV: The (Live) B-Sides & Rare Tracks”.

Merry Christmas Baby

Sheryl's Chuck Berry/Elvis cover, recorded in December 1998 for the "Very Special Christmas in Washington" TNT television special, has appeared on some CDR bootlegs. THIS ONE DON'T COUNT NO MORE, 'CUZ IT'S BEEN COMMERICALLY ISSUED!!!!! SEE THE DISCOGRAPHIES FOR DETAILS.

The Joker

Sheryl performs a cover of this Steve Miller track in a mvoie entitled "Pompatus of Love", starring Jon Cryer. Her performance is not on the soundtrack. Thanks to Eddie Cook for catching this one!

I hope that helps you get a hold of the unreleased Sheryl tracks that I know you are holding your breath to hear. Good luck and happy hunting!
